Cutest Kiddie Apron How ♥ To...

Thanks for all the cutie patootie love 'n comments for the
cutie patootie kidde apron this week!

Hope this helps you create one of your own!!

What you'll need ♥...
Simplicity Pattern #2295
1 yard of fabric (depending on the size... refer to the pattern)
1 yard or so...contrasting fabric
basic sewing supplies
crayons (in coordinating rainbow color...right Lulu?)

Now to give credit where credit is due...this is a store-bought Simplicity pattern, complete with instructions & illustrations (although not as cute & colorful as mine...you think with all the latest technology the pattern people would come up with better illustrations for these patterns...half the time you have no idea what they're talking about...)...so these photos and tips are just me sharing the steps I took to make this apron...enjoy♥

pattern...

pieces...

bib w/pocket...

neck straps...

piecing neck straps & bib...

clipped corners & turned inside out...

crayon pocket...

ruffle...

this is one long piece to be gathered...
the pattern doesn't go into great detail on how to
gather material for a ruffled effect...
the way I learned, was to baste or top stitch two
separate lines using your widest stich setting...
when you stitch only one line the material will
gather but it will not lay as flat as when there are
two basted lines...it just makes for a better gather :) ...

leave a long thread excess and pull only your
topstich threads on both basted lines at the same time...

the other thing I have learned about gathering is to first
find your center point and gather from one end up to that
point...then go to the other end and do the same...
(this makes the gathered material more even,
not so "bunchy" in one area, and sparse in another)

waistband...

piecing bib and skirt...

waist ties...
