Valentine's Day Gift Bags

My wonderful family got me the Silhouette SD machine for Christmas and my favorite thing to cut so far... Library Pockets.   We've been invited to a Valentines Day Party so I thought I would make each of the kiddos a bag to collect all of their goodies in.  The library pocket serves as a name tag for each child's bag, but also as an envelope to stick our valentine to them in.

**If you don't have a machine, there are several DIY library pockets on the internet.  You can download one for free here.

This paper is from the dollar bin at Target....

I had to cut it down to a standard 8.5 x 11to fit into my machine.

Once they were cut, I just assembled and glued the
pocket to the front of a gift bag.

This project was super duper easy
but it's a cute way to
keep all of the Valentine's Day loot contained. <3

and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."

  3. Hi, Terri! I'm so glad you liked the bags! So easy, huh? :) As far as the cricut vs. silhouette... There are two main reasons I chose the Silhouette SD instead of the cricut. The first being that, with the silhouette, you can download images from an "itunes" style marketplace directly from your home computer. Most designs only cost you .99-- super CHEAPO! The designs save to your library for multiple uses. This was more cost effective for our family as the cricut cartridges are a tad expensive. (Think adding at least $50 to every project.. oY! There is no way my hubbs, as great as he is, would go for that.:)
The second reason, is that, if you are anything like me, you get the urge to craft randomly throughout the day. Well, with the cricut, if you don't already own the cartridge, you first have to schedule a trip to joanns to get your images. I absolutely LOVE being able to get images and designs at any time of day, right from the comfort of my living room :) The computer software also allows you to create your own designs as well.

That being said, I have friends who do own the cricut and it does a fantastic job on the actual cutting.. but the expense mostly, ruled it out for me.

Hope that helps. If you have any other specific questions about the machine please let me know. Have a blessed day!
